Four species in the family Zosteraceae (Zostera
marina, Z. caulescens, Z. caespitosa and Phyllospadix iwatensis)
grow in the bay. In addition to Zostera beds, three types
of seaweed beds--Laminaria beds, Eisenia beds and
Sargassum beds--have developed extensively. Coexistence of
Laminaria species and Eisenia bicyclis makes this
site extremely valuable. |
