Insects Sarugamori-sakyu and its back marshes This wetland site encompasses a huge sand dune, some 7.5 km in length, that extends from Shikkari situated in the neighborhood of Shiriyazaki (cape) to Odanosawa. Behind the sand dune lie ponds and marshes from which water beetles such as Laccophilus kobensis, Rhantus erraticus, Graphoderus adamsii, Cybister japonicus, Dytiscus marginalis czerskii and Hydrochara libera have been recorded. On the sand dune, Nabis ferus, Cicindera laetescripta, Ceropales shizukoae, Bembix niponica and Colletes yasumatsui have been observed.
