Miyara-gawa Habitat of Kandelia candel, Bruguiera gymnorhiza and Rhizophora mucronata, the forest of which is collectively designated as a National Natural Monument. Rare distribution site of mangrove tree species. Representative and endemic distribution site of mangrove forest ecosystems.

Many bird species are observed in large population sizes during the spring and autumn migrating seasons. Visitation of more than 1% of the minimum estimated population of Charadrius mongolus, and more than 0.25% of that of Pluvialis fulva, Charadrius alexandrinus, Arenaria interpres and Heteroscelus brevipes has been recorded. Visitation of Himantopus himantopus, Tringa totanus, Numenius madagascariensis and Gallinago hardwickii (all RDB species) has also been recorded.

Crustaceans Mangrove forests and estuaries of Miyara-gawa Miyara-gawa (river) supports 6 crustacean species (Neocaridina denticulata ishigakiensis, N. brevirostris, Atyopsis pilipes, Geothelphusa minei, G. miyazakii and Ryukyum yaeyamense) and 2 fish species (Rhinogobius sp. YB and Hypseleotris cyprinoides) that are listed in the RDB of Japan or Okinawa Prefecture. The entire river basin is important.
