Mangrove forests of Shimajiri in Miyako-jima
Mangrove forest at Shimajiri is the
largest in scale in Miyako-jima, and increasing sedimentation in
recent years has been leading to the forest expansion. It supports
many useful aquatic animals including Scylla spp., and Acanthopagrus
sivicolus.
