estimated population of Pluvialis fulva, Charadrius mongolus,
Numenius arquata, Heteroscelus brevipes and Calidris alpina
has been recorded. Visitation of Tringa totanus, Himantopus himantopus
and Numenius madagascariensis (all RDB species) has also
been recorded. |

The tidal flat abounds in clamworms, bivalves,
and Macrophthalmus spp., providing good feeding grounds for
migratory birds. In the survey conducted in 2000, Neosarmatium
indicum, a close species of Neosarmatium smithi was discovered
at the boundary between the bay and land. It was for the first time
that this Neosarmatium species was recorded in Japan. |
