Kitakyushu C Tidal flats Shorebirds Sone-higata Many bird species are observed in large population sizes during the spring and autumn migrating seasons and the wintering season. Visitation of more than 1% of the minimum estimated population of Charadrius alexandrinus and Numenius phaeopus, and more than 0.25% of that of Pluvialis squatarola, Limosa lapponica, Numenius arquata, Heteroscelus brevipes and Calidris alpina has been recorded. Visitation of Tringa guttifer, T. totanus, Numenius minutus, N. madagascariensis and Gallinago hardwickii (all RDB species) has been recorded.
Geese and ducks Sone-higata Stopover or wintering site of Aythya marila and Tadorna tadorna.
Other birds Sone-higata Wintering site of Larus saundersi.
Benthos Sone-higata Spawning grounds of Tachypleus tridentatus. Abounds in rare species including Chaetopterus variopedatus, Mesochaetopterus japonicus and Uca lactea.
