Other birds Akan-gawa and Niishibetsu-gawa Habitat of Grus japonensis.
Freshwater fish Akan-ko The southern limit of natural distribution of Oncorhynchus nerka in Asia.
Freshwater fish Habitat of Hucho perryi in Konsen-genya This wetland site encompasses large and small rivers in Konsen-genya, such as the Ichani-gawa, Shibetsu-gawa, Tohoro-gawa, Shunbetsu-gawa, Tokotan-gawa, Nishibetsu-gawa, Furen-gawa, Biwase-gawa, Bekambeushi-gawa, Kushiro-gawa and Akan-gawa, and lakes and marshes in the vicinity, all of which are inhabited by Hucho perryi and Phoxinus percnurus sachalinensis.
Freshwater shellfish Akan-ko and its in- and outflowing rivers Margaritifera laevis (classified as Vulnerable(VU)) and Pisidium spp. Rich in species diversity of boreal shellfish.
