Despite proximity to large urban cities of Keihanshin area, reed beds are well preserved and there occur rare crabs including Uca lactea, Clistocoeloma merguiense and Deiratonotus cristatus, as well as rare spiral shells such as Cerithideopsilla djadjariensis, Cerithidea cingulata, Iravadia (Fairbankia) sakaguchii and Neritina violacea.
