Wetland and grassland species abound. The fact that a wetland such as this is still found in an urban district within Utsunomiya city is extremely valuable. Major notable species include Odacantha hagai, Laccophilus kobensis, Byturus ohtai, Scymnus babai, Hyppodamia tredecimpunctata timberlakei, Plateumaris sericea, Cryptocephalus nigrofasciatus, C. tetradecaspilotus, Manobia parvula, Lythraria salicariae, Neocrepidodera sibirica, Leptispa taguchii, Kytorhinus sharpianus, Involvulus (Haplorhynchites) amabilis, Dictyophara nakanonis, Nannophya pygmaea (found in abundance in the stable springwater habitat) and Pseudorhynchus japonicus.
