Wetland vegetation Abashiri-ko On the Memanbetsu side of the Lake, there is an extensive community of Alnus japonica-Lysichitum camtschatcense, which is a National Natural Monument. There grow also Fraxinus mandshurica var. japonica, Ulmus davidiana, Prunus padus, Urtica platyphylla, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Filipendula kamtschatica and Trillium kamtschaticum.
Other birds Abashiri-ko and Tofutsu-ko Habitat of Grus japonensis.
Benthos Abashiri-ko Important habitat of Corbicula japonica. Lefua nikkonis (freshwater fish) thrives in the lower reaches of the Abashiri-gawa (river).
